The Pre-Service School Bus Driver Training Program is available to all public, private and parochial schools in Ohio that have board-owned and operated school buses. Drivers who participate in the pre-service program must be sponsored by an agency providing school bus transportation.
The Pre-Service School Bus Driver Course is a competency-based program designed to train prospective school bus drivers before they drive a bus with children on board. It includes both classroom and practical components. This program also includes driver recertification, the Ohio Advance School Bus Driver Classes, In-service Programs, School Bus Driver ROAD-E-O events and School Bus Rider Safety Programs.
The state is divided into eight regions. A county superintendent within each region serves as the fiscal agent and employs a school bus instructor to deliver the program within that region.
