This festival is held annually in the spring at the Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital Medical Office Building. The format is similar to a graduating art major in college who is required to hold a senior show. Portfolios and individual entries are accepted. The Visual Art Festival High School Senior Show provides the opportunity for high school senior visual arts students to:
-- Have their unique works of art displayed publicly,
-- Have their works adjudicated, and
-- View artwork by students from other school districts in Medina County.
This year the ESC of Medina County will award a $500 scholarship for a winning portolio entry and $25 awards for winning individual entries. Additionally, the Medina County Art League will present scholarship awards (totaling $2,250) to the winners of its “High School Seniors Scholarships Programs.”
The March 16, 2020, reception and awards presentation was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. A decision whether to reschedule it is yet to be made.
Such partners as Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital, Simmons Brothers Construction, CBRE Group, and Medina County Art League are vital to staging the show in such a nice venue.
An outgrowth of the Visual Art Festival is a year-round rotating student artwork display on several floors of the Medina Medical Office Building. See "Arts in Public Places" webpage.
