2014 Spelling Bee Announced
2014 Spelling Bee Announced

The Medina County Spelling Bee will take place again this year at Medina High School auditorium on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at 6:30 p.m.

Participating districts pre-register their schools each fall. The Bee is open to sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade students from public, private, and parochial schools in the county. The number of students a school is permitted to send depends on the student population of the building; the higher the student population, the more students are eligible to represent that school at the Bee (up to five students). The students qualify for the regional competition through competing in their local building spelling bee.

The county Bee, which is sponsored by the Akron Beacon Journal, follows the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee format. The top six winners of the Medina County Spelling Bee will advance to represent Medina County at the Akron Regional Bee in March.
