ESC of Medina County Virtual Academy

2021 - 2022 School Year

Through a collaboration with Medina County School Districts, the ESC of Medina County will provide a synchronous and interactive remote learning option for K-8 students.  Students will have the opportunity to continue online learning while remaining a student of their home district. This collaboration among Medina County Schools is an effort to utilize our combined resources to provide the best possible online learning experience for our students.

ESC of Medina County Virtual Academy will serve grade levels K through 8. Parents wishing to enroll their children must complete the online form.  https://forms.gle/wC6mgoS53gFUUjWc8

The enrollment process will include a parent/student compact that specifies:

  • Adherence to a code of conduct;

  • Technology capacity including a working contact phone number and consistent internet access;

  • That the student is in good standing with the home school district; and

  • A parent or other designated caregiver will serve as a Home Learning Coach and support the student to ensure access to the online learning sessions, assignments, supplemental materials, as well as, proctoring tests and quizzes.

The expectation is that students will remain enrolled in the online learning environment for the year; however, unique student circumstances will be reviewed by the home district and the ESC on an individual basis to determine if placement may change.

Technology Requirements - Students will utilize chromebooks from their home school district. Parents will be expected to respond to emails from teachers and to resolve technical issues promptly.

Core Teaching Staff - Students will be taught by Medina County teachers in a synchronous online platform.  Grades K-4 will have a classroom teacher for core content. Grades 5-8 will have teachers who are departmentalized by subject. Intervention Specialists will provide services for students with specific learning disabilities.

Optional, asynchronous lessons for art, music, physical education, and health will be available. Enrichment activities will be developed by a gifted intervention specialist. Students in grades 7 and 8 will be able to participate in extracurricular activities at their home district.
