School Bus/Van Driver In-Service 2008
The Medina County annual in-service was held on Friday, August 15, 2008, at Medina High School in the Performing Arts Center. There were 423 school bus and van drivers in attendance for the in-service, 305 of those drivers were from Medina County Schools and 118 drivers from other school district outside of Medina County.
The Drivers were welcomed to the annual in-service by Rob Travis, Medina City Schools Transportation Supervisor, and everyone enjoyed a continental breakfast prepared by Medina City Schools Food Service.
Louise Brown, Medina County Job and Family Services, presented how drivers can recognize the signs of abused child, which may lead the drivers to save a child's life by alerting the authorities to a harmful situation. There was also a refresher session on Bloodborne Pathogens, presented by Lori Hogue, Director of Nursing Services, Medina County Schools’ ESC. The in-service concluded with Gary Broadbent , a motivational speaker , who presented, “Boomerangs are Coming Back”.
By working together Medina County School Transportation Supervisors provide Medina County School bus and van drivers with the best guidance, assistance, and training possible. In doing so, they are looking forward to their drivers achieving the highest level of safety, efficiency, compliance, and professionalism.
