Home Education Information
The Medina County Schools’ Educational Service Center is responsible for issuing excuses from compulsory attendance for students residing in the Buckeye, Cloverleaf, and Highland Local School Districts.
Please follow the links in the Related Sites section below to find the most recent regulations regarding homeschooling along with resources to help you if you are providing homeschooling for your child.
If you elect to provide home education for your child, and if you reside in the Buckeye, Cloverleaf, or Highland Local School Districts, please submit the following to the Medina County Schools’ Educational Service Center:
- A completed and signed “Home Education Notification Form”
- A brief outline of the intended curriculum "Sample Outline"
- A list of materials you will be using (textbooks, correspondence courses, commercial curricula, or other basic teaching materials)
- An academic assessment report (This report is not required for first-year home educated students.)
Once your notification is received, it will be reviewed within fourteen days. If everything is in accordance with the rules governing home education, a notice excusing your child(ren) from public school attendance will be sent to you, which is applicable for one school year. If additional information is needed, you will also be notified. The local school district in which you reside will be informed when your notification is in compliance.
