Cloverleaf High School Academic Challenge Team
Wins the 2012 Medina County Academians’ Tournament
The 26th Annual High School Academic Challenge Tournament was held on Friday, March 23, at the Medina County University Center. Medina County University Center proved to be an outstanding host and location for the tournament.
Cloverleaf High School’s Academic Challenge team advanced through seven rounds of Academic Challenge competition to win the first-place trophy. Cameron Flint and Lisa McGraw are the advisors of the winning team. As the first-place winner and as the Varsity League winner, Cloverleaf High School Academic Challenge team will advance to the regional Ohio Academic Competition on April 21. Regional winners and runners-up will be invited to the state competition in Columbus on May 5.
Eight high schools (including Brunswick, Buckeye, Cloverleaf, Columbia, Highland, Medina, Revere, and Wadsworth) participate in the Medina County Academic Challenge League. This year four league matches were played to determine a league winner, and the final all-day double elimination tournament designated a tournament winner. The Cloverleaf High School team won the league title and trophy and was presented with the traveling trophy at the tournament.
Revere High School’s Academic Challenge Team won the second-place trophy at the tournament. The team’s advisors are Ellen Friery and Jeff Fry. The Revere JV team was also awarded the first-place trophy for the regular season JV competition.
