This year’s festival opened its doors to over 145 works of art by 23 local high school seniors. Entry was open to graduating high school seniors who are students of visual arts teachers in the Medina County schools. Students must work on the entries during school hours or in connection with regular school class work.
"We are delighted to partner with Medina Hospital and Medina Hospital Medical Condominium," said Julie Krueger, Visual Art Festival Coordinator for the Medina County Schools’ Educational Service Center.
“Medina Hospital takes pride in supporting the community and partnering with the area schools. We are honored to showcase the artwork of our local students in the South Medical Office Building,” said Dr. Thomas Tulisiak, President of Medina Hospital.
Additionally, the Medina County Art League presents scholarship awards to the winners of its High School Seniors Scholarships Program during the Visual Art Festival. Scott Borror, Medina County Art League Scholarship Committee Chair, stated, “As judges of the senior portfolios, we are always happy to see such quality coming from the students. Our challenge is to find the students who not only have talent but who can create with their heart. We believe the teachers play a large part in the quality of work the students produce and would like to thank them for giving their students the tools to help them develop their artistic abilities.”
Winners of the Medina County Art League scholarships will be presented their awards on Monday, May 21, 2012. A reception with refreshments and music will be held at 7 p.m., and scholarship awards will be presented at 7:30 p.m. The reception will be held in the Medina Hospital Medical Building, Entrance D, on the second floor. This year all participating students will be receiving a gift. The public is welcome to attend.
