2011 Fair Honors Ensembles: Performance

Press Release

by Michael McClintock

August 15, 2011

The Medina County Schools’ Fair Honors Ensembles performed in concert at 12 noon and 1 p.m. in the pavilion of the County Fairgrounds on Thursday, August 4, 2011.  More than 320 students participated in this year’s ensembles.  The event was held with the support of Hunter Insurance Agency, Inc.; Kovack Realty, Inc.; Medina County Agricultural Society; Medina County Federal Credit Union; Royalton Music Center; United Sport Apparel; and Woodsy’s Music of Medina.

Michael McClintock and Pamela Haberkorn conducted the Fair Honors Elementary and Youth Choirs, with Emily Miller serving as accompanist and Sarah Baskerville serving as choir assistant.  Alice Rudolph conducted the Fair Honors Elementary and Junior High/Middle School Bands, with Nathan Rudolph serving as assistant director.  The honors ensembles are under the supervision of Michael McClintock, Fair Honors Ensembles Coordinator for the Medina County Schools’ Educational Service Center.  Brenda Zacharias, Fine Arts administrative assistant, provided logistical assistance.

According to Michael McClintock, “Participating students were selected by their school music director for membership in these honors ensembles on the basis of their ability to play or sing being of the best caliber in their school.  All four directors have agreed that it has been very rewarding to work with this year’s students because they have been very polite and hard-working.  This year we had the largest honors elementary choir on record, which necessitated Mrs. Haberkorn and me to team conduct.”
