Substitute Teacher Training Orientation Program

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER ORIENTATION TRAINING PROGRAM—
(Class dates and location changes.)

The Medina County Schools’ Educational Service Center Substitute Teacher Training Program provides substitute teachers with skills in teaching strategies, classroom management, special education, legal issues, and professionalism.  The training is done by highly qualified trainers that model the way substitute teachers are expected to teach.  The Substitute Teacher Handbook and modeling, connect what the expectations will be for continued learning in the classroom.

For the 2010-2011 school year, this training is required for any substitute teacher who holds a substitute-only teaching license, and has never had a teaching license in the State of Ohio.

Substitute teacher training prepares individuals with the knowledge needed to support the efforts of teachers to deliver quality instruction in a productive learning environment during the absence of the classroom teacher. This interactive training provides instructional techniques, classroom and behavior management strategies, and the skills needed for a substitute teacher to succeed in the classroom.

The registration fee for this class is $100, and the optional “Substitute Teacher” book is $30.

All classes will be held in the Professional Building, lower-level conference room, at 124 W. Washington St.  Medina, Ohio 44256.  Class time is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Registration deadline for all class dates are one week prior to class.  (Classes may be canceled when there are not enough participants enrolled.)
