Preschool Overflow Program
The Medina County Schools’ Educational Service Center, in conjunction with the Medina City Schools, now provides a comprehensive Preschool Program for the students of the six Medina County school districts. The Preschool Program is located at the Medina City School District’s Ralph E. Waite Elementary and serves children with and without disabilities from each child’s third birthday through age five.
The preschool classroom is staffed with a licensed teacher and certificated aide who will serve up to six children with disabilities and up to six children without disabilities in each half-day program, which meets four days per week. The students in the program all receive age-appropriate classroom instruction and take part in scheduled art, music, and physical education programs. Students with special needs receive services in speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, behavioral therapy, and adaptive therapy by team decision through the child’s individualized plan. All students are served through the nursing services available at the Medina City Schools.
The Preschool Program first opened its doors to students in January of 2007 and has seen continued growth through district placement of students with needs and parental enrollments of regularly developing children since then. The program will continue to expand to meet the needs of the Medina County school districts.
