Gifted and Talented Coordination and Intervention
The Medina County Schools’ Educational Service Center provides consultant and coordination services for gifted and talented classes and teachers by means of properly certificated gifted and talented coordinators and two teachers. In addition to support services, the gifted and talented coordinators/teachers assist with and facilitate the following:
- Testing of students’ placement in gifted programs and accelerated options
- District written gifted and talented plans
- Local gifted teachers’ support group
- State Department of Education reviews of local programs and policies
- Personnel recruitment and selection
Education Consultation:
- Identification of gifted and talented children
- Professional development
- Curriculum development
- Parent and community development
- Liaison to regional, state, and national organizations (GCCG, OAGC, and NAGC)
- Participation on district and community committees
- Grant writing
- Coordination of Artist-in-Residence programs

Countywide Events:
- High School Academic Challenge—eight schools, 125 varsity and JV participants in regular season and tournament competitions
- Middle School Academic Challenge—nine schools and 130 students participated
- Buffalo Creek Environmental Education Event—four districts and 100 gifted fifth graders participated
- “24” Math Tournament—three districts and 75 gifted fourth graders participated
- Middle School Model United Nations—two districts participated in this new program
