Fine Arts Festivals

Overview

        Fine Arts Festivals

The Medina County Schools’ Educational Service Center sponsors four annual Fine Arts Festivals. They are as follows:

  • Solo and Ensemble Festival

This festival provides students with an opportunity to showcase their musical talents and serves as a preparation for the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) District VI adjudicated events at the high school and junior high/middle school levels. OMEA-qualified adjudicators give performance ratings and verbal comments to students participating in the event.

  •  “All-Star” Bands Festival

Students for the “All-Star” Bands are selected based upon their musical ability, interest, potential for growth, and the instrumentation of the ensembles.

  •  Visual Arts Festival—High School Senior Show

The county show continues to provide a forum for students to display their works of art in a public setting and see the works of other students from across the county. The format is similar to a graduating art major in college who is required to hold a senior show.

  • Fair Honors Ensembles

Students are selected for membership in these ensembles by their school music director on the basis of their playing and singing ability. Rehearsals for the Medina County Fair Honors Bands and Choirs are held daily for two weeks preceding the Medina County Fair.

  • Medina Hospital Student Artwork Display

An outgrowth of the spring Visual Art Festival is a year-long rotating student artwork display on all six floors of the Medina Hospital South Medical Building. The rotation schedule is: September-December; December-February; February-April; (May is the high school senior show); and June-September. This public exhibit of student artwork is the result of a partnership between Medina Hospital, Simmons Brothers Construction, the Medina County Schools’ ESC, and the Medina County visual arts teachers.
