2017 Buckeye Wrestling Award
 
On Thursday, March 23, 2017, the second annual, "Tom Magier Pursuit of Excellence Award" was presented at the Buckeye Wrestling Awards Program. The plaque was presented by former Buckeye wrestling coach Tom Magier to Logan Cravatas who finished the season with a 25-1 record and won four tournament titles this past season in the 80 pound weight class. Logan also finished 2nd in a 5th tournament this season and qualified for the Junior High State Tournament by placing third in the Norwalk District.

The Buckeye Junior High Wrestling team is lead by coaches John Dalgleish and Mike Tecco who were both former students, wrestlers and football players for Coach Magier in the 1980's. This ongoing award is earned by the wrestler who displays a solid work ethic, has a highly competitive nature and displayed strong leadership qualities throughout the wrestling season.

Tom Magier taught English, reading and history for 30 years at Buckeye and also coached wrestling, football and track during many of those years. He is currently the director/teacher of the Alternative School at the ESC of Medina County, where he and his staff help students from the Medina County Schools recover credits and earn their high school diplomas. He i
s married to Brenda and lives in Munroe Falls, and has two married children, Jake (Shannon) of Portland, Oregon and Nicole (Tim) of Medina, and three grandchildren, Isabelle in Medina, and Holden and Harlow in Portland.
