In this class, we will be reading, discussing, and implementing ideas from the book, What Happens When Students Own Their Learning: Empower by John Spencer and A.J. Juliani. This book provides educators with a roadmap that will inspire innovation, authentic learning experiences, and practical ways to empower students to pursue their passions in school. We will have required reading, discussion/reflection questions that tie into our reading to have answered, and you will also be asked to bring ideas/lessons/materials that tie into the book that we can implement into our own classrooms for each session. We will have the opportunity to interact with educators from all grade levels and subject areas along with having the opportunity to share many ideas that we can all use to better ourselves, our students, and our classrooms. ***Please be sure to purchase the book ahead of time and read the following sections: the Foreword and Finding Your Voice, before our first class.
