Starting 6/12/2018 at 4:00 PM until 7:30 PM
Event Groups:
• ESC of Medina County - ESC Events
• ESC of Medina County - Professional Development
Description:
In this class, we will be reading, discussing, and implementing ideas from the book, Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance, by Angela Duckworth. This book will have valuable insights on why any effort made ultimately counts twice toward a goal, how grit can be learned, regardless of IQ or circumstances, how life interest is triggered, which is better for your child- a warm embrace or high standards, and the magic of the Hard Thing Rule. The book is about what goes through your head when you fall down, and how that- not talent or luck- makes all the difference. We will have required reading, discussion/reflection questions that tie into our reading to have answered, and you will also be asked to bring ideas/lessons/materials that tie into the book that we can implement into our own classrooms for each session. We will have the opportunity to interact with educators from all grade levels and subject areas along with having the opportunity to share many ideas that we can all use to better ourselves, our students, and our classrooms. ***Please be sure to purchase the book ahead of time and read the Preface and Chapter 1- Showing Up, before our first class.
