In this class, we will be reading, discussing, and implementing ideas from the book, Visible Learning for Teachers: Maximizing Impact on Learning by: John Hattie. This book provides educators with John Hattie’s results from more than 15 years’ research involving millions of students and represented the biggest ever collection of evidence-based research into what actually works in schools to improve learning. This book explains how to apply the principles from the book to the classroom setting. The author offers practical step-by-step guidance to the most successful implementation of visible teaching in the classroom. We will have required reading, discussion/reflection questions that tie into our reading to have answered, and you will also be asked to bring ideas/lessons/materials that tie into the book that we can implement into our own classrooms for each session. We will have the opportunity to interact with educators from all grade levels and subject areas along with having the opportunity to share many ideas that we can all use to better ourselves, our students, and our classrooms.
***Please be sure to purchase the book, a 1-inch binder, and a spiral notebook before class. Please read pages 1-38 (Part I: The source of ideas and the role of teachers) before our first class.
